The safety requirements specification (SRS) serves as the design basis for safety controls, safety alarms, interlocks, and SIS. Our SRS is written in a style and format that everyone assigned responsibility for these systems can understand. It defines the intent of these safety critical systems in preventing loss events. For each mode of operation, the SRS describes what needs to be accomplished by the system, such as fault detection, inspection and maintenance, bypass, reset, and manual shutdown. Our SRS is structured to support engineering, operations, and maintenance activities.
The SRS addresses the following safety – critical information:
- Functional Description
- Diagnostics
- Inspection and Maintenance Requirements
- Manual Reset
- Bypass Facility Design and Operation
- Manual Shutdown
Advantages of Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS):
- Meets IEC 61511 requirements in everyday language that engineering, operations, maintenance, and management can understand.
- Developed in open source software so no licenses or special servers required.
- Modular so it is easy to identify and understand individual functions.
- Written with the user in mind, packaging the information for the intended audience.
