PRISM-certified® is a certificate program that addresses the lifecycle management of safety controls, alarms, interlocks, and SIS. The course content covers many good engineering practices published by CCPS, ISA, and IEC. Individuals take a fundamental knowledge exam and must achieve a minimum score to receive the certificate. The objective is to explain the fundamental concepts and management system of IEC 61511 and other related practices. Along the way, we provide a common sense, practical approach to meeting IEC 61511 requirements. After the course, students should understand the core attributes of protection layers and how these attributes affect integrity, reliability, operability, and maintainability.
PRISM-certified® fundamental knowledge exams are conducted after each day of training; the course spans 3 days. The instructor addresses individual student queries throughout the course. Overall, the tests contains 48 multiple choice questions. An overall test score of 80% is required to receive PRISM Certification. Certificates are sent to students who demonstrate the required level of knowledge. Formal remediation is offered to students who did not achieve a passing score on request.
The PRISM-certified® training and certificate program does not contain specific eligibility requirements. Generally, attendees have a BS-technical degree or significant experience in instrumentation and controls. There is no education/experience barrier to PRISM Certification; all that is required is taking the class and successfully passing the test.
